About Us
- SarahMummy
- I'm a slightly stressed-out married Mum of two lovely boys aged 11 and 9 and a gorgeous girl of 7. I work part-time, but I'm very much a full-time Mum. You can usually find me hanging around freezing to death on a touchline somewhere. Or see me running round town in glow in the dark lycra. You won't often catch me scoffing chocolate, though, I do that in private. PR friendly. mumofthreeworld@gmail.com

The Christmas tag

The lovely Laura at Yummy Mummy Flabby Tummy has challenged me to have a go at this Christmas meme. I like Christmas, but I'm not obsessive about it. Will be interesting to see if I come out as a big Scrooge or not...
What's your favourite thing about Christmas?
It's definitely first thing on Christmas morning when we open the door to the lounge and the kids catch sight of their presents for the first time. That's very special. I must admit I'm usually awake from 5am excited and waiting for that moment.
What's your favourite make-up look for the festive season?
That's easy. No make-up. I never, ever wear make-up and Christmas doesn't change that.
Real or fake trees?
Sadly, fake. I love real trees and always had them growing up. I love the smell of real trees. But we've had fake trees ever since my eldest's first Christmas. I'm realistic about kids and real trees - I can just imagine them kicking footballs at it and falling into it. Maybe soon we will be able to switch back.
Giving or receiving presents?
Giving! I love to see my kids' faces when they get their presents, that's what Christmas is all about. Our grown-up presents are an afterthought. They're nice, but they're nowhere near as important as the kids' presents.
Do you open your presents in the morning or evening?
What a silly question! 6am on the dot! I don't know any kids that could wait until the evening. Let's be honest, I couldn't wait until the evening either.
What's your favourite Christmas film?
I love Nativity, which I've watched rather a lot. It's so funny and it really makes the kids laugh. We're all looking forward to going to see Nativity 2 at the cinema. I also loved Arthur Christmas. Father Christmas may have bought it for one of my kids this year. Not for me. For one of my kids. Definitely.
What's your favourite Christmas food?
I'm a vegetarian so I (whisper) don't really like Christmas dinner. There, I've said it. While everyone else eats too much and is stuffed, I eat less than usual for Christmas dinner because I can't have my usual pile of pasta to fill me up. I have a Quorn cottage pie, which is nice enough. I try not to eat them too much during the year, so they at least seem a little bit special on Christmas day.
So now to tag some other bloggers to tell me about their Christmas:

Thank you! And good answers, apart from the dinner one- come to my house-we have a huge vegetarian feast! :)
Wow look at his face! That is Christmas right there! :)
Quorn Cottage Pie?! Sacrilege!! Would you not eat all of the rest and just miss out on the meat? I am mortified for you! I too loved Arthur Christmas :)
I feel totally unapologetic about having a fake tree. That's because I hate real ones! It's not a case of cost or having to clean up needles, I just think artifical Christmas trees look much nicer than real ones.
I was the only person in the cinema when I went to see the first Nativity film! My all-time favourite Christmas movie has to be It's A Wonderful Life. I hate to think how many times I've seen it, on the big screen and the small.
And just to make me appear as a really weird child, I never got up before 8 o'clock on Christmas Day, and often it was nearer to 10 o'clock!
Thank you for tagging me. I'll make sure I work on it this weekend.
Thanks very much for your comments, everyone!
Sonya - I need to come to you for Christmas!
Laura - wasn't he cute? He's not quite that cute any more!
Suzanne - I do eat everything else ie the veg with my Quorn cottage pie. It just doesn't feel like I've eaten very much. I've tried a few things over the years and cottage pie is my favourite!
Fair play to you, James, if you prefer an artificial tree. I've only seen It's A Wonderful Life once - and I'd never even heard of it when I went to see it! That's bad, isn't it?
Can't believe you didn't get up before 8, that's crazy!
I couldn't wait till the evening either. I do make H wait until we are all up, dressed and breakfasted though. He can open his stocking first thing.
Love an insight into other peoples christmas's, that's how nosey I am! Oh, and we open our presents at the crack of dawn too! :)
We're all nosy, Bavarian Sojourn! We like to write about our lives and read about other people's! Glad to hear you open your presents first thing too!
The stocking idea is a good compromise, Erica. We used to have stockings growing up, although not until we were a similar age to my kids are now. It does buy a bit of time when kids are desperate to open their presents.
Thanks you very much for your comments :)
